The course consists of eight units.

Each unit includes the following:

• A lesson plan: Demonstrating principles in practice
• Accompanying slideshows: Supporting all your teaching and training needs

Participants get access to the online course forum for the purpose of asking questions, reporting back on tasks, and professional networking.

This course is aimed at the following:

Language teachers: For language teachers, especially of teenagers and adults, the ideas in this course balance speaking with intensive listening skills. There are many suggestions for teaching grammar, vocabulary, and features of spoken language.

Secondary subject teachers: Many of the ideas in the course can be integrated into subject areas such as art, psychology, media studies, film studies, and literature. In addition, the suggested tasks can help students develop and refine their own communication, presentation, and storytelling skills – which apply across subject areas.

Materials writers and course designers: There has been a notable increase in interest among materials writers and course designers in using authentic video. This course offers valuable insights and a unique approach for developing engaging materials and activities around this powerful resource.

The course consists of eight units and eight adaptable lesson plans.

All theory is illustrated through practical teaching ideas and it will take around 60 minutes to get through each unit and additional time if you wish to try the activities with your students.

This is an asynchronous, self-access course which means that you can work through the units in your own time, at your own pace, according to your own schedule.
