Stuck on a Ledge

One day in 2007, a brown bear was walking across a bridge in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. When he was halfway across, he got spooked by a car and jumped over the side. Fortunately, he managed to catch a ledge and pull himself to safety. Unfortunately, he was now stuck 80 feet above the ground.

In this lesson, the bear’s identity is hidden beneath a black blob, keeping students curious and guessing as they:

  • Work through the images
  • Take part in an interactive storytelling gap-fill
  • Collaborate to reconstruct the text and practise past narrative tenses
